Richard left the UK in 1991 to go and find his fortune, and started his first Dubai based business in 1996 after a few years and a number of different jobs in Dubai, as well as a year backpacking in Australia. From this time came the idea for OES Oilfield Services which was established in 1996 and has subsequently grown to provide services on five continents. Working in the deepwater and shallow water field of exploration drilling as well as involved with drilling operations, offshore construction, field development and the international oil and gas exploration industry onshore and offshore has provided massive experience.

Beginning at the age of 16, Jordan initiated their professional journey in mechanical engineering at the National Learning Center in Milton Keynes, gaining practical experience with Audi. Following this, Jordan invested in training courses for Forex, subsequently transitioning into full time equities trading.

A significant juncture in Jordan’s career came when they crossed paths with entrepreneur Richard Upshall. This connection led to Jordan trading proprietary funds for Richard personally and collaborating on the establishment of RU Limitless—a firm specializing in alternative investment strategies, ranging from arbitrage to longer-term trading strategies.

Alongside their financial ventures, Jordan has been instrumental in founding and directing various startups. Noteworthy among these are Deliverable FX trading platforms catering to the forex needs of oilfield service businesses, a directorial role in a cybersecurity company, ownership of a private car marketplace for dealership transactions, a stake in a medical imaging technology company, and ownership of a packaging company in the North East of the UK.

With considerable experience in legal and government work, Lord Wharton was a Minister in two UK Government departments, and a Member of Parliament for 7 years. Now sitting in the house of Lords he has a comprehensive understanding of government affairs.

When Minister for the Northern Powerhouse he handled all onshore minerals and renewables planning applications and had responsibility for the European Regional Development Fund. He also took the Cities and Local Government Act through

Parliament, creating the metro mayors and establishing their powers. Much of this was focussed on infrastructure and economic development and retains a close interest in their work.

As a Minister in DFID he was responsible for all UK aid in Africa. This included significant spend on renewables projects and research.

Lord Wharton currently Chairs three Board of Office for Students (the Universities/Higher Education regulator) having been appointed by the government, remains very active in all aspects of political life.
